9 Dec 2014

Bulgarian mobile operator Max (previously Max Telecom) has extended the footprint of its Long Term Evolution (LTE) network to Plovdiv and Bourgas, thus meeting its target to bring 4G services to 50% of the urban population by end-2014. Following the expansion programme, LTE services with downlink speeds of 75Mbps are now available in ten cities, namely Sofia, Stara Zagora, Ruse, Sliven, Pleven, Bansko, Varna, Bourgas and Plovdiv.

CEO Peter Covell said: ‘The launch of 4G LTE in Bourgas and Plovdiv will give the citizens of these cities the latest mobile technology, and [represents] the next crucial step for Max that shows [our] significant progress during the year and steady growth. We reached our goals for 50% coverage of the urban population by the end of 2014. Since our commercial launch in May, we have put all our efforts into developing a state-of-the-art 4G LTE network, which enables our clients to use world-class modern services for mobile internet.’
