Tigo is poised to extend fixed, mobile and data connectivity to the Paraguayan areas of the sparsely populated Gran Chaco region, which also spans eastern Bolivia, northern Argentina and a portion of the Brazilian states of Mato Grosso and Mato Grosso do Sul. According to TeleSemana, Tigo was the only company to lodge a bid in Conatel’s Universal Service Fund (USF) tender, and will receive PYG21.66 million (USD4.63 million) from the government to support the 24-month rollout. Tigo expects the deployment to start next year and conclude in 2017.
