On 3 December 2014, Tigo Senegal – a wholly owned subsidiary of Millicom International Cellular (MIC) – launched a 4G pilot trial in Dakar to test ultra-high speed mobile broadband services in a live situation. Agence Ecofin confirms that the trial, which runs until 31 December and is free of charge to subscribers, will cover Yoff, Almadies, Fann Residence, University, Dakar-Plateau, International Conference Centre Abdou Diouf Diamniadio and Touba. At the end of the 28-day trial Tigo hopes to deploy 4G on a commercial basis.
