Mavenir deploys IMS Core and VoLTE solution for T-Mobile CR; cellco expands LTE

5 Dec 2014

Mavenir Systems, which describes itself as a leading provider of software-based networking solutions, has successfully deployed a converged IMS Core and voice-over-Long Term Evolution (VoLTE) application server solution for Czech cellco T-Mobile CR. The pair also confirmed the carrying out of the first successful VoLTE call and a limited pilot trial in the carrier’s live network. In a joint press release, the pair said that Mavenir’s end-to-end IMS Core solution was selected to deliver converged services from a single common platform enabling next generation services such as VoLTE.

Commenting on the deployment, Vladimír Klein, technology director at T-Mobile CR, said: ‘We are excited to be moving forward and paving the road to new 4G LTE services for our customers,’ adding, ‘we selected Mavenir based on the flexibility of their IMS platform/portfolio, and their ability to quickly integrate the solution into our existing network environment. Mavenir’s proven know how and converged IMS Core and VoLTE solution has enabled us to continue our reputation as a leading and innovative mobile operator.’

In a related story, T-Mobile has confirmed that its 4G LTE network is now live in an additional 138 locations, primarily in the areas of South-Moravian, Zlin, Olomouc, South-Bohemian and Central Bohemian regions, where it has inaugurated LTE in 87 towns and cities, boosting combined 4G and 3G coverage to 90% of the population, it said. The expansion works on 4G will continue for the rest of December, it added.
