MegaFon’s 4G network live in Tyumen

3 Dec 2014

Online news portal MNGZ reports that MegaFon’s 4G network has been switched on in the city of Tyumen in the Urals Federal District, east of Moscow. The cellco says its Long Term Evolution (LTE) network is live in ‘all areas of the city’ at launch, although subscribers will need to have a 4G compatible device and SIM to take advantage of the service. By the end of this year MegaFon intends to have upgraded 170 base transceiver stations (BTS) to provide Tyumen with an even, stable signal. Its 4G signal is already available in Nizhnevartovsk and Nefteyugansk, and will be joined by Ugorsk and Khanty-Mansiysk by the end of the year.
