Jazztel becomes first Spanish MVNO to offer 4G services

2 Dec 2014

Alternative Spanish broadband provider Jazztel, which operates as a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) over the network belonging to Orange Espana, has announced that it is now offering 4G connectivity to its customers. Initially those customers signed up to the provider’s fixed and mobile bundled services are able to sign up to benefit from the increased downlink speeds offered by LTE technology; no date has been given for those taking mobile-only services to gain access to 4G speeds. This development comes hot on the heels of reports in late November 2014 that local telecoms regulator the Comision Nacional de los Mercados y la Competencia (CNMC) had ruled that network operators must allow MVNOs access to their 4G networks.
