Si.Mobil expands LTE, announces LTE-A launch

24 Nov 2014

The Slovenian cellular operator Si.Mobil has revealed that its 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) network now covers more than 500 settlements of at least 300 inhabitants, while it has also switched on new LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) services in six markets, increasing peak theoretical download speeds to 300Mbps. Si.Mobil says it expects 75% of the population to be covered with standard LTE networks by the end of this year, rising to 95% by mid-2017, local news agency STA reports. The Telekom Austria subsidiary was the first Slovenian cellco to switch on LTE-based services when it launched in three cities in July 2012.
