Greek broadband provider Hellenic Telecommunications Organisation (OTE) has partnered with Eutelsat Communications to use its KA-SAT satellite to extend broadband services across the country. OTE claims the satellite internet service offers download/upload speeds of up to 22Mbps/6Mbps to remote locations including ‘where there is no network for fixed internet’. The service is available through OTE’s retail stores, requiring a small satellite dish and modem, with three packages on offer – EUR29.90 (USD37.5) per month for 10GB data, EUR39.90 for 25GB data and EUR79.90 for 100GB data.
