Mobile operator Tigo Senegal has enlisted Sweden’s Ericsson to supply it with its Wallet Platform Solution as it moves to launch its ‘Tigo Cash’ mobile financial services in West Africa. Tigo Senegal, a unit of Millicom International Cellular (MIC), is aiming for Tigo Cash to become the preferred method of payment across Senegal, and says the Ericsson Wallet Platform will support the launch by making the transfer of money as easy as sending an SMS and receiving money as simple as answering a phone call. Commenting on the launch, Tigo managing director Diego Camberos said: ‘Mobile financial services are highly important to our subscribers and to drive continued success, it was important for us to speed up an easy to use, secure and reliable offering to market.’
