Siti taps Cisco for DOCSIS 3.0 rollout

12 Nov 2014

Indian cable TV and broadband provider Siti Cable has selected Cisco to upgrade its network with DOCSIS 3.0 technology, NexTV India reports. The operator deployed the technology in Delhi and National Capital Region (NCR) in Q2 FY15, allowing it to offer broadband at speeds of up to 100Mbps in those areas, and now plans to roll out the DOCSIS 3.0 upgrade in other key cities. Siti’s network consists of 56 analogue and 14 digital head ends, with a hybrid fibre-coaxial (HFC) network spanning 12,000km and covering more than 100 cities. Siti booked total revenues of INR2.238 billion (USD36.35 million) in the three months to end-September 2014, compared to INR2.090 billion in the previous quarter and INR1.615 billion in the year-ago period. Its pay-TV subscribers at that date totalled 4.6 million, having added 300,000 new users during the quarter. According to the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), Siti claimed 12,113 broadband subscribers at the end of December 2013.
