Yozma Timeturns finally to launch mobile network?

11 Nov 2014

Russian-owned Yozma Timeturns, the mobile start-up which has been planning to launch services in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) since it was granted a licence in 2009, appears to finally be making moves towards a commercial debut. A report from online newspaper Le Potentiel claims Yozma Timeturns conducted ‘technical trials in the presence of vice president of the Regulatory Authority of Posts and Telecommunications (ARPTC) Kasindi Odon’ on 7 November. Following two successful test calls, Odon commented the next step would involve ‘strengthening the network and its extension outside the capital; fulfilling … necessary technical tests … so as to offer our future subscribers a reliable network of very good quality; and finally, trade … to the public.’ Yozma is said to already have over 50 antennas in the capital of Kinshasa.
