UPC Ireland reports Q3 telephony user growth of 21%

Cableco UPC Ireland saw an increase of 13,600 subscriptions over the third quarter to reach a total of 1,105,200, with fibre broadband, TV and phone bundles drawing new subscribers; 359,100 customers now use UPC Ireland’s ‘super-fast’ broadband offering speeds up to 120Mbps, an increase of 9% year-on-year, and telephony subscriptions increased to 336,300 at the end of September, representing a 21% increase in 3Q14 for home phone subscriptions. 3Q14 also saw the provider’s Horizon TV – a premium bundle providing phone, internet and interactive TV services via a single integrated set-top box – surpass 100,000 customers.

The company’s CFO, Carol Grennan, comments: ‘We continue to focus on innovative new services,’ revealing that UPC’s investment has surpassed EUR1 billion (USD1.245 billion) and the network now reaches over 850,000 premises in 20 major towns and cities, with UPC claiming half of all Irish homes are able to receive up to 200Mbps broadband while businesses are able to receive up to 500Mbps.
