Polkomtel completes trial of LTE-A

10 Nov 2014

The Polish mobile operator Polkomtel has become the first of the country’s cellcos to test Long Term Evolution Advanced (LTE-A) equipment, which could eventually provide peak theoretical download speeds of up to 300Mbps. The trials, which have used carrier aggregation technology in the 800MHz and 2600MHz bands, were carried out in conjunction with Ericsson. Polkomtel offers services under the ‘Plus’ brand name and claimed 66% population coverage for its 4G LTE networks at the end of June 2014, having launched its first 4G networks in October 2012.
