Zain launches FTTH service in Amman

4 Nov 2014

Kuwaiti-backed operator Zain Jordan has launched a fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) broadband service, offering download speeds of up to 100Mbps in Swaifiey and Dair Ghbar in the capital, Amman. The telco’s FTTH tariffs range in price from JOD40 to JOD250 (USD56.3 to USD351.9) per month, for symmetrical (i.e. identical down/upload speeds) connections at 10Mbps, 20Mbps, 50Mbps or 100Mbps and data caps of 50-200GB. The plans require customers to sign up for at least a year, although discounts of 10% and 25% are available if users commit to two- or three-year contracts. Customers that sign up to the service before 30 November will benefit from a ‘Super-Sized Quota’ promotion, which boosts the data cap for each plan by up to five times, to a maximum of 1,000GB. Although only currently available in two areas of the capital, Zain plans to extend the service elsewhere soon.
