According to Taiwan Mobile Company’s most recently reported financial results, it generated a total turnover of TWD82.430 billion (USD2.72 billion) for the nine months ended 30 September 2014, representing a 3% year-on-year increase. Operating revenue accounted for the lion’s share of that figure – TWD68.299 billion, up from TWD65.675 billion in 9M 2014 – while revenues from handset sales stood at TWD14.131 billion, down by 1.3% y-o-y. EBITDA for the first nine months of 2014 meanwhile totalled TWD24.039 billion, compared to TWD23.396 billion in the corresponding period of 2013, while net income was TWD11.958 billion in 9M 2014, down marginally from TWD12.035 billion a year earlier.
Taiwan Mobile meanwhile is said to be aiming to boost its 4G subscriber base to one million by the end of 2014, a figure which it expects would give it a market share of between 33% and 35%, according to the Digitimes. In addition, according to the local press source, Taiwan Mobile’s board of directors is said to have approved an increase to the company’s 2014 capital expenditure budget on 31 October 2014; the total set aside has been boosted by TWD515 million to TWD15.950 billion with a view to supporting the construction of the operator’s LTE-based infrastructure.
