Kyrgyzstan disconnects bankrupt Aktel

Privately-owned mobile operator Aktel, which offered services in Kyrgyzstan under the Fonex brand, has had its equipment disconnected from the telecoms exchange/communications node reportedly serving all of its remaining base stations, and its service agreement with the country’s national operator, Kyrgyztelecom, terminated – therefore ceasing all Fonex mobile services, according to Telecompaper. Aktel was announced bankrupt at the end of 2013 after FinanceCreditBank launched a lawsuit against the company, saying it was owed KGS8 million (USD144,186) by the operator; Kyrgztelecom has quoted debt from Aktel at KGS5.2 million according to Tazabek reports.
