Deutsche Telekom’s T-Mobile CR unit has announced it will close its Czech TV service on 30 November, Broadband TV News reports. The operator released a statement confirming that existing TV customers will be able to port their subscription to the Skylink service operated by M7 Group without any additional cost. For its part, Skylink also noted that T-Mobile TV subscribers will not need to change or modify their equipment to receive its service, and that prices and terms and conditions will remain the same.
T-Mobile CR is the leading mobile operator in the Czech Republic, with more than 5.9 million accesses at 30 June 2014. However, its decision to exit the local TV market marks a major shift in the Czech DTH market. Skylink – including sister company CS Link, into which it has now been merged – is the market segment leader, with other providers including UPC DTH’s freeSAT and DIGI TV.
