Lebanese newspaper The Daily Star reports that telecoms minister Boutros Harb has levied a USD150,000 fine against state-owned, Egyptian-managed mobile operator Alfa over a service outage in north Lebanon earlier this month. The communication failure hit 2G mobile services in Kesrouan and Jbeil for a period of ten hours, according to a statement from the minister, adding that the fine amount was in accordance with the operating agreement between the Telecoms Ministry and Orascom Telecom.
