Algerie Telecom chooses Ericsson for broadband network upgrade

28 Oct 2014

Algerian fixed line incumbent Algerie Telecom (AT) has selected Swedish equipment vendor Ericsson to transform and expand its broadband network in order to offer residential users triple-play services and provide enterprises with secure networking over virtual private networks (VPNs). Under the terms of the agreement, Ericsson will consolidate the existing network functions for a simple and scalable architecture using the Ericsson SSR 8000 Provider Edge (PE) and BNG applications. The new modernised platform will allow AT to meet growing demand for residential broadband connectivity and triple-play services with IPTV and video-on-demand (VoD).

AT’s CEO Mohamed Sebaa said: ‘This new infrastructure based on Ericsson will provide the reliability, scalability, performance and flexibility for enabling us to offer more and better choices to both residential and enterprise customers.’
