27 Oct 2014

The Colombian government has requested that Azteca Communications add an extra 1,500km to the national fibre-optic network in order to connect additional municipalities, TeleSemana writes. The government has asked that the operator increase the length of the network to 20,500km from the 19,000km previously planned, with a view to covering 788 municipalities rather than the original 753. USD10 million has been offered to bankroll the extension, increasing the total value of the deal to USD245 million.
