Full mobile number portability (MNP) is scheduled to be introduced in India by 31 March 2015, with the Telecom Commission approving the plan to implement the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India’s (TRAI’s) ‘One Nation, One Number’ strategy, the Economic Times writes. The plan will allow Indian subscribers to port their number between providers in different operating circles. At present, customers are only able to keep their number when they switch provider within a service area. Having received the green light from the Telecom Commission, the plan now requires a final stamp of approval from the telecom minister.
