MegaFon publishes update on recent 2G, 3G, 4G upgrades in Moscow region

ComNews reports that during the second half of August and September, mobile operator MegaFon upgraded its network infrastructure at 306 locations in Moscow and Moscow region, while also deploying an additional 92 new base transceiver stations (BTS). During the roughly six-week period, the cellco modernised over 200 BTS in the capital, which it notes will double peak mobile internet access speeds and boost network capacity by around 40%. In addition, MegaFon increased its 4G footprint in the capital via the deployment of 160 new BTS, in particular focusing on Dolgoprudnom, Queen, Krasnogorsk, Reutovo and eight other cities, while 42 3G base stations in Klin, Krasnogorsk, Odintsov, Reutovo and Khimki have been upgraded to provide increased data speeds during peak hours.
