Autopage to reposition itself as enterprise ISP

9 Oct 2014

South African wireless service provider Altech Autopage, a wholly-owned subsidiary of JSE-listed Allied Electronics Corporation (Altron), is reportedly in the process of repositioning itself as an enterprise internet service provider (ISP), BusinessTech reports. Altron also revealed that in the six months to end-August 2014 Altech’s revenue and EBITDA declined year-on-year by 7% and 36%, respectively – predominantly as a result of continued pressures in the consumer market and the deflation of voice charges. The financial results were also impacted by external funding of handset receivables, which has reduced margins on handset sales. Altech’s average revenue per user (ARPU) continued to decline in the period under review while churn is being maintained, the parent company added.
