FITEL handed USD25m budget for 2015

Peru’s transport and communications minister, Jose Gallardo Ku has confirmed that the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) has allocated PEN74 million (USD25.21 million) of its PEN9 billion budget for 2015 to the Fund for Investment in Telecommunications (FITEL), local news agency Andina writes. FITEL manages funds for the provision of universal service, promoting the development of telecommunications services in remote and rural areas. According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, FITEL had a budget of PEN110.97 million in 2013.
