Movistar Peru expands LTE coverage to Chibote and Ica

Movistar Peru has expanded its 4G network to the cities of Chimbote and Ica, with the infrastructure now covering a total of 52 districts across the country, La Republica reports. In announcing the development it was also noted that a total of 36 of the districts covered are in Lima, with those being: Cercado de Lima, La Molina, Miraflores, San Borja, San Isidro, San Miguel, Bellavista, Surco, Surquillo, Magdalena, Lince, Barranco, Jesus Maria, Pueblo Libre, Chorrillos, Independencia, Los Olivos, San Luis, La Victoria, La Punta, Callao, Brena, Ate, Santa Anita, La Perla, Rimac, San Martin de Porres , San Juan de Miraflores, San Juan de Lurigancho, Carmen de la Legua, Villa Maria del Triunfo, Cieneguilla, Comas, El Agustino, Villa El Salvador and Lurin. Meanwhile, other notable locations to have gained access to the 4G network since it was launched are districts in the provinces of Arequipa, Trujillo, Chiclayo and Piura.

Having increased coverage, uptake too appears to be on the rise, with Movistar Peru’s 4G offerings now said to have attracted 200,000 subscribers.
