French telco Iliad is planning to bid for a larger stake in Deutsche Telekom’s (DT’s) T-Mobile US unit than originally planned, Bloomberg reports, citing people familiar with the matter. Iliad, which originally proposed buying 56.6% of T-Mobile US in July this year, still intends to offer around USD33 for each T-Mobile share, but hopes to secure a significantly larger stake. Controlled by billionaire entrepreneur Xavier Niel, Iliad has set a deadline of this month for reaching a preliminary agreement with DT, it has previously been noted. Executives at DT remain keen to secure at least USD35 per share for T-Mobile US however, two sources added. DT currently holds a 67% stake in T-Mobile US.
