Rockin’ the suburbs: Telkom unveils December LTE-A plans

Telkom South Africa has confirmed plans to introduce Long Term Evolution Advanced (LTE-A) technology in December this year, extending its coverage to a total of 50 suburbs in Greater Johannesburg, Western Cape, Tshwane and KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) by March 2015. According to BusinessTech.co.za, Telkom chief operating officer Brian Armstrong, made the announcement at the 2014 MyBroadband Conference in Midrand. The advanced network, which will run on the 2300MHz band, is expected to allow end-users to experience downlink transmission speeds of up to 200Mbps.
