Zamora named as first city for 800MHz LTE deployment

25 Sep 2014

Spain’s Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism has revealed that the city of Zamora has been selected as the first location where the 800MHz band will be used for the deployment of 4G services. With Zamora having previously been the site of a pilot to analyse the coexistence of DTT and 4G services using digital dividend (790MHz-862MHz) frequencies, the government has confirmed that mobile operators will now be able to use the aforementioned band for LTE in the city, with a gradual deployment expected to last three months. It is understood that operators will subsequently be able to begin rolling out 4G services using 800MHz spectrum from 1 January 2015.
