Telecom Italia considering mobile tower listing

24 Sep 2014

Telecom Italia (TI) is considering a stock market listing of its mobile towers in 2015 rather than selling them off completely, Reuters has reported, citing two sources close to the matter. The Italian telco is looking to cut debt and raise funds for new investments, and a sale or listing of tower infrastructure units at home and in Brazil has already been highlighted as a potential way forward by chief executive Marco Patuano. The firm is hoping to raise at least EUR2 billion (USD2.6 billion) from the sale of all or part of its mobile tower networks in the two countries. It is thought that TI is waiting for the listing of shares in Italy’s national TV and radio broadcast network operator Raiway later this year before making a decision on its own infrastructure units.
