Mobistar to launch cable TV and internet by year-end

Belgian cellular operator Mobistar has announced plans to launch television and broadband internet services by the end of this year. The firm is partnering with Alpha Networks, Zappware and Siligence to develop what will be the first service of its type in Europe, where third-party providers such as Mobistar are able to utilise regulated cable networks owned by cablecos such as Telenet and Brutele. Alpha Networks will be responsible for the supply of IT infrastructure and systems for interactive services management for cable TV, Zappware will develop the user interfaces for decoders, tablets, smartphones and PCs, while Siligence will supply the new TV decoders for the cable network.
