Bouygues Telecom to offer Netflix from November 2014

15 Sep 2014

French service provider Bouygues Telecom has signed an agreement with leading video-on-demand (VoD) provider Netflix, which would allow subscribers to the telco’s Bbox Sensation product and future users of Bouygues’ soon-to-launch Android Box to gain unlimited access to Netflix’s over-the-top (OTT) video streaming service from November 2014. Olivier Roussat, CEO of Bouygues Telecom, said: ‘We are very pleased and proud to announce this partnership with the world leader in subscription video on demand (SVoD). We will continue to enhance our offering to our customers to have access to the best innovative content at home and on the move.’

TeleGeography notes that the agreement is the first of its kind in the French market, as none of the other major players – Orange France, SFR and Iliad (Free) – has yet formalised an agreement to provide access to Netflix via their respective triple-play boxes.
