China’s Huawei Technologies has been awarded a five-year managed services contract by South Africa-based multinational mobile operator MTN Group. Under the terms of the deal, signed yesterday, the Chinese vendor will provide managed services for MTN in six countries, including Ghana, Cameroon, Guinea and Benin, and cover a range of services such as managed network operations, network performance management and spare parts management. The pair note that, with the ever-growing popularity of smartphones and data hungry applications, Huawei’s ‘innovative’ managed service solutions will support MTN’s efforts to enhance its operational efficiency and provide a better quality of service to MTN users.
