NPT to change name in January 2015

11 Sep 2014

Norway’s telecoms regulator the Norwegian Post and Telecommunications Authority (NPT) has announced that it is to change its name from the beginning of next year. Having begun life as the Norwegian Telecommunications Authority back in 1987, the watchdog took on its current moniker ten years later after its portfolio was expanded to include the postal sector. Now, however, with the body increasingly focused on telecoms-related matters, and with Transport Minister Ketil Solvik-Olsen noting that postal services have seen a significant decline in volume, the new name has been chosen to reflect this. As such, from 1 January 2015 the regulator will be known as the Norwegian Communications Authority (NCA), with work on the practical elements of the change, such a new logo, expected to be undertaken in the autumn.
