The United Arab Emirates (UAE) fixed and mobile operator Du has successfully completed lab tests of 1Gbps broadband technology, aimed at delivering high speed services to residential users. The firm has not revealed when it plans to launch 1Gbps technology commercially. According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, Du is currently restricted to providing high speed internet to business and residential customers in the free economic zones and new residential areas of Dubai (‘New Dubai’), including Palm Jumeirah, Jumeirah Lake Towers, Jumeirah Islands, Dubai Marina, Emirates Living, Discovery Gardens, International City, Arabian Ranches and Burj Dubai.
