Following a successful pilot in Mainz, German cableco Kabel Deutschland has revealed it will begin offering broadband connection speeds of up to 200Mbps in a number of cities from November. At present around 14.3 million households are able to access data rates of up to 100Mbps over the firm’s cable TV network, but towards the end of the year the maximum available speed will be doubled in a number of cities, including Koblenz, Saarbrucken and Wilhelmshaven. By 31 March 2015 Kabel Deutschland, which was acquired by Vodafone Group last year, plans to provide 200Mbps coverage to around 1.8 million homes, increasing to almost three million six months later.
