MPT taps Dialogic for fixed line upgrade

1 Sep 2014

State-backed operator Myanmar Post and Telecommunications (MPT) has selected Dialogic’s intelligent call control solutions, the vendor announced in a press release. Under the deal, MPT will deploy Dialogic’s ControlSwitch System, as well as its I-Gate 4000 Pro and EDGE Media Gateways (MGWs) and BorderNet 4000 Session Border Controllers at several locations across the country. The new systems, it is hoped, will help the incumbent satisfy an anticipated expansion in demand over the next two years: MPT expects to add millions of new subscribers by end-2016 as a result of the liberalisation of the market. An unnamed MPT official was quoted as saying: ‘With the market opening up, we looked for a solution that would give us the geographic redundancy, scalability and unique bandwidth optimisation necessary to stay competitive. We saw how other carriers were benefitting from Dialogic’s technology, and knew it was the best solution to help MPT modernise our network while continuing to ensure reliable service for customers.’ Dialogic has teamed up with a local partner, Khine Thit Sar Co Ltd (KTSCL), for the project.
