Anatel opens consultation to amend the regulation of STFC regulation

28 Aug 2014

Brazil’s telecoms regulator Anatel has launched a public consultation on proposed amendments of the Fixed Switched Telephone Service (STFC) Regulation, approved by Resolution No 426 of 9 December 2005, and the revocation of Resolution No 283 of 29 November 29, 2001, which is scheduled to run until 25 September. The watchdog says the objective of Public Consultation No 32 (25 August 2014) is ‘to adjust the regulations to the current telecom scenario in order to optimise the benefits of network convergence, with ownership by users of the benefits of technological convergence and creating mechanisms to encourage competition and the expansion of voice and data services in the industry. This, however, will be taken without foregoing the guarantee of the rights of users and the competitive balance among economic actors in the sector’.

The full text of the proposals is available on the Anatel website.
