RJIL inks tower deal with BSNL

State-owned cellco Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) has signed a deal to lease 4,000 mobile towers to newcomer Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd (RJIL), the Economic Times writes. BSNL will offer a base rate of INR38,000 per month for ground-based towers and INR24,900 per month for rooftop-based towers, although the cellco has offered a 15% discount if RJIL commits to leasing 1,500 towers in the first year. As noted by TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, Meanwhile, RJIL signed infrastructure deals with a number of other operators in an effort to speed-up its launch and to-date has inked agreements with Reliance Communications (RCOM), Viom Networks, American Tower Corporation (ATC), Tower Vision, Ascend Telecom and Bharti Infratel.
