Nova calls on Huawei for world’s first LampSite network rollout in a stadium

26 Aug 2014

Huawei has revealed that Icelandic mobile network operator Nova has deployed the Chinese vendor’s LampSite solution at the Korinn stadium in Kopavogur to provide ‘seamless mobile broadband experiences’ for a Justin Timberlake concert that took place on 24 August. With the concert said to have attracted an audience of 18,000, a figure which represents approximately 5% of the total population of Iceland, Nova selected the LampSite solution following several rounds of analysis and comparisons. For its part, Huawei said it had been able to complete network planning, site survey, installation, commissioning and all other processes in a short period of time, despite the indoor complexity within the stadium.

LampSite is billed as ‘an innovative indoor mobile broadband solution that addresses indoor network coverage and capacity problems for different scenarios, providing high performance and improved mobile broadband user experience.’
