Vodafone Iceland reports marginal growth in revenue, profit; LTE coverage reaches 70%

Vodafone Iceland (Fjarskipti) has published its financial results for the three months ended 30 June 2014, reporting a marginal 1% year-on-year increase in revenues to ISK3.294 billion (USD28.29 million) from ISK3.257 billion generated in the corresponding period of 2013. EBITDA, however, decreased by 8% from ISK732 million to ISK671 billion in 2Q14, while profit reached ISK210 million in the period under review, a 1% improvement y-o-y on the ISK207 million reported in end-June 2013.

Vodafone Iceland also revealed that its Long Term Evolution (LTE) network now extends to more than 70% of the population, after the company installed a number of new 4G transmitters. The areas covered by the 4G network include Reykjavik, Akranes, Borgarnes, Borgarfjordur, bogs, Udon Thani, Varmahlid, Kagafjordur, Siglufjordur, Dalvik, Hrisey, Akureyri, Hrafnagil, Eyjafjordur Grenivik Husavik Egilstadir, Fljotsdalsherad, Vestmannaeyjar, Laugarvatn Grimsnes , Fludir, Selfoss, Eyrarbakka Stokkseyri and Thingvellir.
