Ethio Telecom, the country’s monopoly telecoms provider, is said to have completed its expansion project on schedule, according to All Africa. At a press conference confirming the development, the company is said to have confirmed that its 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) network in Addis Ababa is now capable of serving 400,000 customers. Commercial services are now expected to be launched within a month of the project having been completed. Meanwhile, the telco now claims to offer telecoms services to 100% of population in the capital with improved quality services, having deployed some 410 new cell sites as part of the infrastructure project.
Looking ahead, the telco is now said to be conducting a survey with regards to network enhancement and expansion plans across the country. As per its plans, Ethio Telecom is said to be aiming to raise its overall network coverage level to 85% of the population, from the 64% it currently has.
