Claro extends 4G to 95 municipalities

7 Aug 2014

Mexican-backed cellco Claro Colombia has rolled out 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) services to 95 municipalities and 28 municipal capitals. Claro claims to have invested USD1 billion over the last three years, and plans to extend 4G coverage to more than 600 municipalities over the next five years. El Espectador quotes the cellco’s president Juan Carlos Archila as saying: ‘We have accomplished, in less than six months, [the deployment of] the largest 4G network in the country, offering greater speeds and more competitiveness … without additional cost to Colombians.’
