T-Mobile Hungary extends LTE to Lake Balaton area

6 Aug 2014

T-Mobile Hungary, a wholly owned subsidiary of Magyar Telekom (MTel), has expanded its 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) coverage to take in the holiday resort of Lake Balaton, giving users access to super-fast mobile broadband internet. The company says LTE is already live in 13 cities on the north shore, including Keszthely, Lake Balaton and Balatonalmadi, and a further 13 on the south coast resort, such as Fonyodon, and Balatonfoldvar. In addition, T-Mobile notes that in recent months it has also connected several other towns and cities to the 4G network, the largest of which are Mosonmagyarovar, Salgotarjan, Gyongyos and Hajduszoboszlo. As a result of the 4G rollout, by the end of the summer outdoor population coverage is expected to reach nearly 80% of the Lake Balaton region. In total, 219 localities will have 4G mobile broadband coverage by the end of August, while national outdoor coverage will reach 53.5%.
