Du partners Huawei for 800MHz LTE-A trial

31 Jul 2014

United Arab Emirates telecoms operator Du has successfully completed field testing for LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) Carrier Aggregation between the 800MHz and 1800MHz frequency bands, with the aim of providing greater speed, indoor coverage and reliability to mobile subscribers across the country. The Khaleej Times writes that the carrier aggregation technology was tested on Du’s 4G LTE mobile network in partnership with Chinese vendor Huawei. ‘Offering innovative and class-leading customer experience means the most to us and utilising the 800MHz band to provide 4G LTE mobile broadband services to the public is a pivotal technology vehicle we are planning to use to further enhance the user experience and significantly extend our state-of-the art 4G LTE network coverage to a larger section of Du customers,’ commented Saleem Al Balooshi, Du’s executive vice-president of Network Development and Operation. In addition to extending outdoor coverage to areas not currently covered by LTE, utilisation of the 800MHz band will enhance indoor coverage.
