FreedomPop to launch Belgian MVNO

14 Jul 2014

US-based mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) FreedomPop is to introduce its first service in Europe, with a launch in Belgium using the network of KPN subsidiary BASE. The planned pricing structure for Belgium has not yet been announced, but in the US the firm’s ‘Freemium’ service offers customers a free bundle of 200 voice-over-internet protocol (VoIP) minutes, 500 SMS messages and 500MB of mobile data use, with options to upgrade via paid-for plans. FreedomPop says almost half of its customers in the US take paid-for options to upgrade parts of the free offering such as data download speeds. A launch date for Belgium has not been revealed.
