Vimpelcom-backed cellco Beeline has extended the coverage of its 2G and 3G networks in Surkhandarya region, UzDaily writes. The operator installed a new base station in Denau, and plans to add further sites to its network in the area over the course of the year. The expansion work has improved capacity and signal quality in the makhallas (communities) of Korabogtepa, Yangi Hazarbog and Nowruz.
Rival operator Ucell, which is majority owned by Sweden’s TeliaSonera has announced plans to expand its infrastructure with the installation of additional base stations in the Karakalpakstan, Kashkadarya, Ferghana, Namangan, Samarkand, Surkhandarya, Andijan and Jizzakh regions. Meanwhile the cellco has completed an upgrade to increase its international bandwidth by 16%, which it claims will help improve the speed, quality and stability of mobile internet services.
