MTN Ghana meets five QoS benchmarks in six regions

MTN Ghana has successfully passed the five Quality of Service (QoS) monitoring tests conducted by the National Communications Authority (NCA) in six regions, the Ghana News Agency reports; the tests covered the period between February and April 2014. The performance indicators measured include Stand-alone Dedicated Control Channel (SDCCH) Congestion Rate, Call Setup Time (CST), Call Congestion Rate (CCR), Traffic Channel Congestion Rate (TCCR) and Call Drop Rate (CDR). Mrs Cynthia Lumor, MTN Ghana’s director of corporate services, has indicated that MTN passed all five QoS indicators in the Central, Western, Ashanti, Northern, Upper East and Upper West Regions, following ‘consistent and aggressive capital investments’.

As previously reported by TeleGeography’s CommsUpdate, in May 2014 Mrs Lumor said that the operator had taken several steps to improve its QoS, by investing GHS274 million (USD95.057 million) in network upgrades in 2013, while the company also plans to invest a further GHS311 million in 2014.
