27 Jun 2014

Telenor Norge has selected Tata Consultancy Services Ltd (TCS) as its partner to modernise and simplify its fixed network operations, the telco’s parent company Telenor Group has announced. In revealing the partnership, Telenor Group said its goal is to ‘improve customer experience through reduced complexity and faster deliveries’ and the development is part of Telenor Norge’s long-term effort to modernise and simplify products, processes and related IT systems in the fixed area. With Telenor Norge and TCS having reportedly signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in March 2014, the pair have been preparing and analysing IT solutions, products and work processes since then. Saying that they are now ready to start detailing the design and transformation of the fixed network, it has been noted that work on the project is expected to continue until 2018. Terms and conditions of the contract between the two companies will not be disclosed by either party, however, it was confirmed.

Commenting on the development, Berit Svendsen, CEO of Telenor Norge, said: ‘This is one of the largest change programs in recent history for Telenor Norge. The agreement with TCS represents an important milestone for us. They have the expertise and the methodology we need to simplify work processes, products and IT solutions to the fixed network area. Our aim is to provide customers with better experiences, with improved quality and faster deliveries, while reducing costs.’
