Kenyan watchdog CCK rebrands as CA

25 Jun 2014

The Communications Commission of Kenya (CCK) has been rebranded and will now be known as the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA). CA director general Francis Wangusi told AllAfrica that the rebranding coincides with an expanded mandate, which includes: regulating electronic transactions, administering broadcast content, developing media standards and monitoring compliance. Wangusi commented: ‘Our rebranding is meant to give us a new outlook in dealing with the sector issues; we were given more powers that include prosecutorial powers [for] contraventions of the regulations’. Further, the CA is set to open four regional offices in Mombasa, Kisumu, Eldoret and Nyeri in a bid to better serve all 47 counties of Kenya.
