16 Jun 2014

French competition authority, the Autorite de la Concurrence, has fined Societe Francaise du Radiotelephone (SFR) over abusive pricing practices in the French overseas territories of Reunion and Mayotte, where the company operates as Societe Reunionnaise de Radiotelephone (SRR) and SFR Mayotte, respectively. Following an investigation of complaints by rivals Orange and Outremer Telecom, the watchdog has imposed a fine of EUR45.9 million (USD62.1 million) on SFR, which has been found guilty of ‘price gouging’ in relation to the fees applied to on-net and off-net calls.
